Overview
Are you an experienced teacher looking for a new opportunity or just starting your teaching career? Office of Mental Health, a NYS agency, has teaching opportunities throughout New York State. Greater Binghamton Health Center, Children and Youth is recruiting a Teacher to provide educational instruction to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Teacher, you will teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects including:
- Preparing course and unit outlines, lesson plans, and individual education plans
- Evaluating and documenting individuals’ performance and progress
- Collaborating with treatment team to work toward treatment goals and objectives
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they meet any of the following:
- Teacher 2 – Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
- Teacher 3 – Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
- Teacher 4 – Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and 2 years of post‑certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.
OR
- Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Teacher eligible list.
- Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
