The Department of Physics at Binghamtonicating invites applications for a tenure‑track position as a Simons Empire Faculty Fellow to begin in Fall 2026 at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek an outstanding candidate with expertise in experimental light‑matter interactions and nonlinear optics/photonics, with an emphasis on ultrafast dynamics of quantum materials and/or quantum optics, sensing, and communications.

Successful candidates are expected to have an outstanding research record, establish an independent research program, and make effective contributions to the Physics undergraduate and graduate teaching programs.

This position is part of a prestigious four‑faculty Simons Empire Faculty Fellowship cluster hire at Binghamton University, comprising two experimental physics positions and two mathematics positions. The cluster is aparência to foster collaborative research at the intersection of quantum science and the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence, directly advancing the Simons Foundation’s mission to push the frontiers of mathematics and basic sciences through interdisciplinary collaboration.

While the primary expectation is that fellows will develop strong, independent research programs within their disciplines, the cluster also offers unique opportunities for interdisciplinary engagement. Fellows will receive dedicated startup support from the Simons Foundation.

The start date for the position is August 17, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, or a closely related field by August 17, SECURITY

• Postdoctoral experience in Physics, or a closely related field
