Position SummaryThe Department of Geography at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor in the area of Human-Environment Interactions. The successful candidate will develop and sustain an active research program, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, teach introductory courses, develop curricula in human environment interactions, and contribute to departmental service and community engagement.
Responsibilities- Develop a research program in human-environment interactions, including GIS and remote sensing applications.
- Teach introductory and advanced courses in geography and related disciplines.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, fostering inclusive learning environments.
- Contribute to departmental service, curriculum development, and community engagement.
- Ph.D. in Geography or closely related field by August 17, 2026.
- Demonstrated expertise in applied environmental geography with a human dimension.
- Demonstrated expertise in GIS and/or remote sensing research.
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Demonstrated success in acquiring external funding to support research activities.
- Experience with community partner engagement.
