Binghamton University – University Libraries awards an open‑rank position (Associate for Full Librarian) located in Binghamton, NY. The role is full‑time with an expected salary of $85,000‑115,000, inclusive of an administrative stipend that is renewable at established intervals.

The Libraries provide extensive academic collections in electronic, print, and special collections formats. With three public locations – Glenn G. Job Description

This new position will lead a reorganized department comprising four virtual units:
Digital Scholarship Services,kering, Liaison Services, Special Collections, and Teaching and Learning. The Director will shape strategic direction, assess emerging research methods, and apply evidence‑based decision making to improve library services.

Leadership and Strategy
  • Work with the Senior Assistant Dean ILAR on strategic planning and goal setting for the department and units.
  • Promote service excellence across modalities, applying inclusive pedagogy and universal design principles.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility and privacy policies and stay informed of evolving guidelines.
  • Recommend and support services and technologies for established and emerging research areas.
  • Maintain accurate statistical records, analyze data trends, and report insights to library administration.
  • Advocate for innovative approaches through consortia, professional organizations, and peer networks.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the Dean’s Library Council, aligning departmental goals with library-wide strategy.
Supervision and Management
  • Lead four assistant directors, set performance goals, and provide ongoing guidance.
  • Facilitate communication among team members and other library units.
  • Encourage professional development to keep current with the field.
  • Promote inclusivityтернат and anti‑racism in the work culture.
  • Mentor staff in professional development activities related to departmental duties.
Scholarship and Service
  • Contribute to the field through scholarly activities, including presentations, publications, or grants.
  • Participate in library, university, and national service initiatives.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Masterd天天s degree from an ALA‑accredited library or information science program, or an ALA‑approved foreign equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of experience in an academic or public library, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: reference, information literacy instruction, liaison services, data spécifiques services, scholarly communication, special collections, or grant‑writing support.
  • Commitment to high‑quality service in a diverse environment; effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities, capable of conveying complex information clearly.
  • Record of scholarly activity (publications, presentations, or grants).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience evaluating and improving research services through quantitative/qualitative data analysis.
  • Leadership in professional development relevant to the department’s mission.
