Heavy Duty Steward – Buffet – Full Time

Boomtown Casino Biloxi

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains work areas (kitchens, cooking preparation, etc.), equipment (cook stoves, grills, stove hoods, deep fryers, etc.), and utensils in a clean and sanitary manner and in accordance with OSHA and Serv Safe standards.
  • Removes garbage and trash, and places refuse in designated pick up area.
  • Operates mechanical devices designed to assist such as scrubbers and dishwasher.
  • Adheres to proper cleanliness and sanitation standards as set forth by Serv Safe.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitary conditions in all kitchen areas and food storage areas by steam cleaning mats and other walking surfaces, washing walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
  • Stocks serving stations with utensils.
  • Maintains safe working conditions and practices in the kitchen and eating area.
  • Must be presentable when reporting to work, wearing appropriate uniform. Good personal hygiene required.
  • Initiates a positive guest experience when working any guest contact position by providing a welcome and/or greeting, making eye contact, smiling, and bidding a warm farewell and good luck, etc.
  • Any and all duties as assigned by your Supervisor or a member of management.
Qualification Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to communicate with our customers and fellow employees.
  • Understanding of OSHA rules and regulations as required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
