Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Gulfport, MS
Industry: Construction
A growing construction company is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to support project-based financial operations. This role requires prior construction AP experience, including subcontractor pay applications and lien waivers.
What You'll Do:
- Process subcontractor pay applications and vendor invoices
- Review and track conditional/unconditional lien waivers
- Verify subcontractor compliance (W-9s, COIs, required documentation)
- Match invoices to purchase orders and contracts
- Coordinate with project managers to resolve billing discrepancies
- Prepare check runs and ACH payments
- Maintain organized AP records
- Assist with month-end close and audit support
- 2+ years of construction accounts payable experience
- Experience with subcontractor billing and progress payments
- Strong understanding of lien waivers
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Experience with Sage, Timber Scan, Procore, or similar construction accounting systems
- Knowledge of job cost accounting
