Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 have the following position open for the 2025‑26 school year:

Position OverviewThe person in this position performs unskilled and skilled maintenance work for the District buildings, grounds and property under general supervision of the Director of Maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Performs unskilled and skilled duties in a variety of trades
- Performs general maintenance work inside and outside the physical plant
- Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains inventory of district‑owned tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies
- Performs maintenance and repair of the following:
Boilers, Glass, Concrete, Sprinklers (above and below ground), Masonry, Insulation, Electrical, Pumps, Carpet, Controls, Roof, Basic Carpentry, HVAC, Tile, Plumbing, Small Equipment - Change filters and service motors and belts
- Install and maintain external security lights and internal lighting and ballasts

DesiredMinimum Qualifications
Education / Certification / Experience
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Low pressure boiler license or ability to obtain one
- Skilled in one or more maintenance or construction trades
Experience
- Five years of general facilities maintenance, construction and repair work or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment, trade practices and techniques, quality standards applicable to construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds.
- Knowledge of basic safety practices.
- Knowledge of basic computer applications.
- Ability to use standard shop tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment.
- Ability to be pulled from one job to another.
- Ability to work in small areas.
- Ability to work effectively without close supervision.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
- Ability to work from plans, blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to create own plans as necessary.
- Ability to keep proper records.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the workday.

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly works inside and occasionally outside. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with time constraints.
The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, stretch, push heavy equipment, lift and carry equipment and objects. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to grasp objects. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee is required to be able to speak and to hear and to exchange information.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will often perform routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Guidance and reinforcement are usually available. The employee may be involved in social interactions which require oral and written communications.
