BAS Controls Technician – Billings, MT – Commercial, Industrial & Energy Facilities – $36–$50/hr + OT + Vehicle
A growing Building Automation & HVAC Controls integrator is seeking a skilled
BAS Controls Technician to support commercial, industrial, and energy‑sector facilities across the Billings region. This role involves hands‑on work with DDC controls, system troubleshooting, new installations, and optimization of automated HVAC systems.
- Title: BAS Controls Technician
- Location: Billings, MT (regional travel within Eastern Montana)
- Pay Range: $36.00 – $50.00/hr (DOE)

This position supports new construction, retrofit, and service‑based controls projects for a wide range of facilities including hospitals, manufacturing plants, office buildings, government sites, and energy production operations. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:- Install, wire, and configure BAS/DDC controllers, sensors, and network components
- Perform equipment checkouts, point‑to‑point testing, and full system commissioning
- Troubleshoot HVAC control loops, network communication, and device‑level issues
- Modify and tune BAS programs to ensure proper operation and energy performance
- Create and update graphics, alarm settings, and trend logs
- Collaborate with mechanical contractors, electricians, and on‑site facility teams
- Interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical plans, and sequences of operation
- Provide end‑user support and training for building operators
- 2+ years of experience in BAS/DDC controls or HVAC automation
- Experience with Tridium, Alerton, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, or similar platforms
- Strong HVAC and mechanical systems knowledge
- Competent with control wiring, low‑voltage installation, and field calibration
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean MVR
