Your Role

The primary responsibilities for this position include supporting biological/natural resource surveys in the Great Plains and Western Mountains in CO, NE, WY, MT, SD and ND, or other locations as assigned.

  • Conducting multiple types of biological/natural resource surveys throughout the United States as needed for project requirements
  • Working on several projects at one time in different phases of the project life and prioritizing work across all projects as assigned to maintain the schedule and ensure data quality (i.e., ensuring timely completion of data quality assurance/quality control and report writing around fieldwork assignments)
  • Supporting writing and review of technical reports.
  • Potentially completing work/surveys outside of biological sciences (Geotechnical and Utility Surveys, Water sampling, etc.).
  • Logistics support for large field mobilizations- assisting with equipment relocation to different field sites as needed, equipment inventory, maintenance, etc. as assigned.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Qualifications
  • Bonus:
    Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience as a field biologist or related role, with a focus on ornithology, aquatic resources (wetlands and stream delineations), botany (noxious weeds and vegetation identification), or wildlife (identification of birds and other wildlife by sight and/or call). Relevant field experience from participation in an applicable B.S. program may be counted towards this requirement.
  • Detail oriented with excellent critical thinking and troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS Pro, and other relevant software tools.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative work environment along with a willingness to learn and be adaptable.
  • Ability to conduct field work safely in accordance with Tetra Tech’s health and safety policies and the project specific health and safety plan
  • This position requires ability to hike up to 5-10 miles per day through challenging terrain.
  • Excellent organization and oral/written communications skills.
  • Ability to take clear and accurate field notes by hand or on a tablet/smartphone.
  • Ability to prioritize a variety of assignments in time‑critical situations.
