Responsibilities
  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, and show commitment to guest-focused service.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, including handling changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and maintaining high guest service standards.
  • Respond to guest comments/questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed.
  • Promote Game Stop guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training associates on company/store policies and procedures.
  • Observe associate performance, provide feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
  • Provide timely recognition and feedback to associates; document feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training are completed prior to shifts; ensure associates know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
  • Assist in scheduling and supervising store associates to ensure optimal guest service; adhere to scheduling guidelines and breaks.
  • Approve payroll, manage time off requests, and verify hours worked.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are operational.
  • Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct security checks as needed and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
  • Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties.
  • Conduct store inventory counts, stock/move merchandise, and ensure items are represented and alphabetized on the sales floor.
  • Balance and reconcile daily transactions in the POS system; manage closeout paperwork and ensure adequate cash and change; make deposits as required.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate discrepancies to management.
  • Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; ensure proper labeling and packing lists.
  • Maintain associate and guest safety; address potentially hazardous situations and report injuries promptly per guidelines.
  • Maintain organized store records/files; ensure manuals are up to date.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
