Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

Position

Registered Nurse Cath Lab - Intermountain Health St. Vincent Hospital

Responsibilities
  • React calmly and accurately in a high stress, fast-paced environment
  • Function capably and respectfully as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Assess, recognize, and address patients' rapidly changing needs
  • Follow hospital, regulatory, and professional guidelines, policies, and procedures
Shift Details
  • 40 hours a week; 4 10-hour shifts
  • Share on call obligations (requires 30-minute response time)
  • Regular Lab hours are 7:30am-6:00pm Monday-Friday (open to shift negotiations)
  • Call hours 6:00pm-7:30am with 24-hour coverage Saturday, Sunday and holidays
Unit Details
  • Facilities include 2 Cath Labs, 1 Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, 1 Vascular Suite, and 1 Hybrid Operating Room
  • Procedures include cardiac, electrophysiology, structural heart, and vascular interventions
  • Imaging and monitoring equipment include Philips imaging systems, GE Mac-Lab, Acist, Pnumbra, Shockwave, Rotablator, Volcano systems, IVUS, Boston Scientific devices, Impella, balloon pumps, and 3D ICE technology
  • Team composition includes Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, Vascular Surgeons, and Cardiac Surgeons; three-person teams with RNs and invasive technologists; documentation in Epic and Mac-Lab
  • RN-led conscious sedation and anesthesia as appropriate
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • Note:

    BSN is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Frequent verbal communication with patients and staff; respond quickly during emergencies
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment; computer use for documentation and medication preparation
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients; move supplies and equipment; push/pull gurneys
  • Ability to walk, stand, and assist with transporting patients; navigate crowded work areas
  • May be required to drive a vehicle

The hourly range for this position is $35.70 - $52.25. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
