As a Field Safety Specialist, you will be a visible, trusted, hands‑on partner in the field. You will work alongside teams in retail stores, donation centers, warehouses, and program sites to prevent injuries, strengthen safe work habits, and continuously improve how we care for one another.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, travel, relationship building, and turning safety knowledge into practical action.
What You Will Do- Deliver engaging, on-the-job safety training for new hires and current employees
- Lead role-specific safety refreshers and ongoing hazard awareness sessions
- Provide hands‑on demonstrations for lifting techniques, compactor use, chemical safety, and emergency response
- Conduct regular site visits, safety inspections, and field observations across multiple environments
- Support incident investigations and post‑incident site visits to reinforce learning and prevent repeat injuries
- Review incident reports and After‑Action Reviews to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities
- Partner with site leaders to implement and sustain required safety programs and protocols
- Promote employee participation in safety and injury prevention efforts
- Maintain accurate and timely safety documentation in incident tracking systems
- Contribute ideas to improve safety training, tools, and site‑level resources
- Stay current on OSHA regulations, industry trends, and emerging safety risks
- Minimum of two years of safety experience in a multi‑site, labor‑intensive environment such as retail, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or social services
- Experience delivering safety training and conducting field audits or inspections
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and injury prevention strategies
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with frontline employees, supervisors, and leadership
- Organized, solution‑focused mindset with the ability to prioritize safety needs in active work environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with safety or incident tracking software preferred
- DOT knowledge and experience a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, or a related field preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel frequently throughout the organization’s multi‑state service area
- Ability to work on site in varied environmental and operational conditions
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 30 pounds, climb stairs or ladders, and demonstrate job tasks as needed
- Ability to conduct site assessments independently or with reasonable accommodation
- The organization pays for required travel when it occurs within the designated service territory.
- Successful completion of a DMV check
- Completion of a background check; acknowledging or having a criminal history does not automatically disqualify an applicant
