Are you a detail-oriented and organized individual with a passion for providing exceptional patient care? We are currently seeking a Referral Coordinator to join our healthcare services team. As a Referral Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless referral process, coordinating appointments, and facilitating effective communication between healthcare providers, patients, and specialists. Qualifications:- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- 2 years experience in a medical environment with knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- General office administration and office functions preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Must be able to effectively use technology and computer software (i.e. internet, e-mail, MS Word and Excel)
- Experience using an electronic health record preferred
- Must be sensitive to the needs of migrant/seasonal farm workers and their families
- Stay updated on insurance policies, referral guidelines, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance and accurate processing of referrals.
- Works directly with insurance payers to pre-authorize outgoing procedure or specialist referrals
- In coordination with Agency clinicians, generates records within Agency’s electronic health record of all pertinent referral information, forwards these documents to referring site and verifies and tracks the documents through all stages of the referral to completion and return of referral documents to Agency’s ordering provider
- Completes referral vouchers completely and accurately; documents in electronic health record, when voucher issued to patient, the voucher number and referral information; ensures patient signature on vouchers and instructs patient on use of voucher and what voucher covers
- Works closely with outreach staff to assist patients in applying for financial assistance when needed
