JOB SUMMARYThe Rehabilitation Aide, with documented training and under the supervision of the Licensed Addiction Counselor or mental health professional staff, will provide psychosocial rehabilitation services as defined in the Administrative Rules of Montana . The role includes direct services and support to clients after program hours and any delegated assistance to medical unit staff and counselors. The candidate must assure adherence to state statutes, CARF standards, and federal regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and positively represent the organization and promote Rimrock’s mission to the community.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Provide observation and therapeutic support to assigned patients, including rounds at residential sites to assure security and maintain program schedules.
- Report all incidents, unusual events, and emergencies immediately to the supervisor and nurse on duty, per Rimrock’s policies and procedures.
- Intervene and de‑escalate situations when necessary.
- Monitor and facilitate client phone calls.
- Document patient care or behavioral issues to the clinical care team through AM/PM communication logs.
- Monitor all visitors and assure that no contraband is brought into the facility.
- Perform client luggage searches at admission and transport luggage to storage; conduct additional searches as needed.
- Assist clients during medication self‑administration, including removing medication from secured storage, handling, opening, and providing instructions.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and in‑services to comply with mandatory training requirements.
- Follow guidelines under the code of conduct section in the employee handbook.
- Assist with food service and patient supervision in the dining room.
- Monitor and accompany clients during breaks.
- Maintain regular, predictable, and reliable attendance.
- Guide clients through self‑advocacy and problem‑solving when situations arise.
- Train new employees after completion of RA II requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Transport patients to outside activities safely and maintain driving logs; report mechanical problems immediately.
- Provide rounds to ensure facility security, locking doors and setting alarms after hours.
- Ensure all incident report forms are completed per Rimrock’s policies.
- Be familiar with emergency procedures and assist in actual events or drills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to communicate and work with patients with addictions.
- Attendance of monthly departmental sessions and in‑services.
- View non‑violent crisis intervention tapes/videos and attend related training.
- Complete 4 hours of CEU training annually, specifically in Trauma Informed Care, De‑escalation, Motivational Interviewing, and Suicide Awareness.
- Career ladder advancement requires:
- Rehabilitation Technician I for one year.
- No disciplinary action within the last twelve months.
- Complete required 4 CEUs for the calendar year.
- Cross‑train at main facility and one residential facility.
- Score 90% on Safety RA Quiz.
- Complete skills assessment.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- MUST BE INSURABLE UNDER RIMROCK’S DRIVING POLICY; no more than 2 violations/accidents or suspensions/reinstatements within 3 years; no DUI/reckless/felony convictions within 5 years.
- CPR and first aid training certification must be obtained within 6 months.
Communication; ability to take direction and work adjunctively with the therapeutic team; empathy and knowledge of patients with addiction; positive reinforcement; computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWork is indoors in an office environment with moderate noise. Intermittent physical effort involving lifting up to 25 pounds, walking, and stooping is required. Typical workday involves walking, standing, reaching, talking, and hearing, approximately 70% of the time. Approximately 30% or less is spent sitting. Normal vision, including close focus, is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / JOB LOCATIONSInvolves everyday risk or discomfort requiring normal safety precautions in an office setting, meeting rooms, and patient care areas. Work may involve mental and emotional stress. Some driving is required. Work will primarily be at the main facility, although the candidate may be required to work at another facility with adult or adolescent patients.
