River Stone Health Pharmacy is located inside our Clinic, enabling patients to receive medications promptly after a medical appointment. Pharmacists counsel patients, check for drug interactions, and help patients access medications through various programs.

Job Summary
:
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for day-to-day operations in the retail pharmacy, supervising technicians/interns/students, verifying and dispensing prescriptions for medications and DME, providing medication-related education to patients and clinic staff, and maintaining the integrity of patient assistance programs administered through the pharmacy.
- Retail Pharmacy duties (approximately 95% of time)
- Perform prospective drug utilization reviews to assess potential drug interactions, allergies, therapeutic duplications, correct dosing, and patient adherence
- Direct supervision of preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals and DME by pharmacy technicians, interns, and students
- Maintain integrity of the pharmacy programs (including 340B, ADAP, and retail medications)
- Counsel patients on new medications/DME supplies and refilled medications
- Provide information on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, adherence and storage
- Collaborate with health care professionals to review and evaluate drug regimens
- Offer health promotion activities and education (e.g., blood pressure devices, diabetes monitors)
- Handle telephone encounters, retrieve pertinent information, and scan documents into the electronic health record (EHR)
- Document medication-related information accurately in the EHR
- Utilize standing orders and collaborative practice agreements
- Oversee operation of cash registers, payment processing, and pharmacy POS system
- Monitor inventory and expiration dates of medications/DME
- Maintain accurate prescription records per laws and regulations
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and licensure/ accreditation requirements
- Ensure security of the pharmacy and safe/appropriate storage of medications/DME, including refrigerated items
- Support orientation and training for pharmacy technicians; identify areas for improvement and work with Pharmacy Manager to implement solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of River Stone Health’s mission and goals
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy required;
Pharm
D preferred
- Experience in a retail pharmacy
- Current and active pharmacist license in the State of Montana
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacotherapy and pharmacist standards
- Ability to learn and use computer software programs
- Understanding of patient assistance programs to help patients access medications
- Detail-oriented with strong accuracy
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
- Ability to collaborate with others and maintain a positive work environment
