Job DescriptionAECOM has a position available for a High Voltage Transmission Engineering Lead specializing in utility transmission design. This role can be based out of any AECOM office in the West or Mid‑West US and is hybrid.
The focus is on the power delivery industry and a background in electrical engineering for utility‑scale transmission line development.
Responsibilities- Lead technical staff in preparing utility engineering designs, cost estimates, and customer billing.
- Manage engineering aspects of multiple projects ranging from 34.5kV to 500kV.
- Develop project schedules and define technical staff allocation.
- Mentor and instruct technical staff on engineering principles and electrical and safety codes.
- Teach staff the use of computer systems, software, tools, equipment, and company-owned vehicles.
- Guide professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal/external design reviews before submissions.
- Collaborate with department managers to develop, evaluate, and implement new policies and procedures reflecting best engineering practices.
- Collaborate with other departments on company‑wide initiatives.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and pursue opportunities with potential future clients.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering and 6 years of experience (or equivalent).
- Active Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
- Experience with PLS‑CADD, MFAD, AutoCAD.
- 5+ years in Power Transmission Design.
- Professional disposition and open‑minded planning and execution skills.
- Ability to effectively supervise a team of Engineers & Engineering Technicians while maintaining quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability.
- Advanced knowledge of overhead & underground transmission facilities and integration into daily activities.
- Experience with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and other industry standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Offered compensation will be based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location:
USD 110,000 – 160,000 yearly
