• Master’s Degree in Architecture
• Architectural licensure
• Minimum 12 years of experience in an architecture firm or in healthcare architecture
• Past experience working in a healthcare organization is a plus
• Focused or specialty in healthcare design, preference for a healthcare‑specific college degree
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
• Medical space planning, architectural design, and construction documents acumen
• Working understanding of design constructability and solid knowledge of healthcare architecture
• Advanced understanding of the Federal Guidelines Institute (FGI) for healthcare architecture and all applicable building codes
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
• Understanding of contractual relationships among the Architect, Consultants, Owner, and Contractor
• Ability to prepare and deliver presentation materials and communicate within a creative team environment
• Complex problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities are essential

• Medical space planning, including research on best practices and future practices of healthcare services
• Provide overall project design and development process to ensure that construction documents conform with A&E + SMA Design’s agreement with the client
• Provide technical expertise to generate documents for healthcare and/or life science projects of varying size and scope
• Work with partners and project managers on all project efforts, both administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost‑effective execution of assigned projects
• Provide clear team leadership and mentorship; oversee and direct project team members, particularly those with less experience
• Ensure quality control on all deliverables
• May estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals and contracts for partner or associate partner review
• Serve as the primary consultant liaison and a secondary client liaison to complete projects on schedule, within budget, and with maximum client satisfaction
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary design team to understand client needs and determine innovative, successful environmental graphic solutions
• Support the design director and collaborate with architects, designers, and fabricators
