POSITION OVERVIEW

The person in this position accomplishes receptionist functions to support the efficient operation of the Activity Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Courteously relays incoming phone calls to appropriate personnel and takes messages
  • Greets all visitors courteously and determines their needs
  • Handles inquiries from the public
  • Maintains routine filing systems of the office, including all informational, applicant, personnel, and required files
  • Operates and maintains standard office equipment including computer, cash register, photocopier, adding machine, and required files
  • Responds to requests for applications and job information
  • Is familiar with and answers questions on building and activities schedules, and programs, such as Swim Lessons, First Aid Classes etc
  • Maintains records of Center Memberships and Locker Rentals. Updates said records and notifies patrons when passes and locker rents are due
  • Will assist in training all student employees who work as Front Desk personnel and available to answer questions that may arise when they are on duty
  • Will participate in our annual maintenance when we close for about 2 weeks to do some required maintenance on our pools/building.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • CPR and First Aid Certified - training available upon request
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the community dynamics and the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with a diverse population
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, building staff and school community
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to perform a variety of clerical work with accuracy
  • Ability to follow both oral and written directions and instructions
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to work effectively without close supervision
  • Ability to be flexible in scheduling and planning
  • Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student matters
  • Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all District requirements and Board policies
EQUIPMENT USED

Computer, various software, copier, calculator, telephone, general school/office equipment, Pool Equipment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Student employees, Lifeguards when the manager and assistant manager are out of the building

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, occasionally walk and stand. The employee must be able to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are usually available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communications.
