Main duties of the job
- Care navigation/signpost patients to the most appropriate service
- Ensure all telephone calls are answered within a timely manner
- Manage appointment requests telephone/F2F/e.consultations/home visits
- Ensure efficient processing of pathology samples from safe collection to distribution of results internally and accurately notifying patients of the results.
- Action requests for repeat prescriptions on the clinical computer system according to the prescribing protocol and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours.
- Manage communication into the practice, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate action.
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients' healthcare records
- Promote health campaigns to appropriate high-risk patients i.e., the annual flu vaccination campaign
- Open and secure premises.

The team comprises of:
3 GPs (2 of whom trained at the practice and stayed on).
Three Nurse Practitioners providing acute appointments
Three Practice Nurses & Two Health Care Assistants.
The support team comprises of 10 receptionists and a separate admin team.

Job Summary
The medical reception team are the first point of contact and represent the practice whether on the telephone or face to face; the receptionist must respond in a friendly, helpful and professional manner at all times. To provide administrative assistance to the practice team and carry out a variety of administrative tasks unique to general practice.

Keep up to date with and apply practice policies, standards and guidelines.
To attend any required training
To work flexibly within the practice opening hours as directed by the Reception Team Leader/Practice Manager
To carry out other duties appropriate to the position of Medical Receptionist
Person Specification Experience- Proven customer service skills in direct contact with public
- Experience of working in a team
- Experience of working on own initiative
- Experience of dealing with people in a health and social care setting
- Six months experience as a Medical receptionist in a general practice
- Experience of using a medical software i.e., Systm One
- Experience of signposting or care navigation
- Experience of eRD
- Experience of EPS
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Amspar Medical Receptionist Certificate
