An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 nurse to join the Learning Disability Inpatient Team. Support is provided by a vibrant and welcoming team, with opportunities to further your knowledge and experience within the unit.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will promote equality for all service users in a standalone 7 bedded dynamic Assessment and Treatment unit that offers high quality care and treatment for people with a learning disability. The post holder will assist with the initial assessment process, contribute to discharge planning at the point of entry, and ensure consistent application of care and treatment plans throughout the duration of admission.
The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and will be supported in their personal and professional development.

The poster holder will:
- Provide quality evidence-based nursing care, ensuring support and care for patients and carers within a multidisciplinary team.
- Plan and organise own workload and associated activities and demands.
- Be involved in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
- Have a working knowledge of local and national policies and legislation which govern the current LD service provision.
- Be actively involved in the ongoing training needs of unqualified staff.
- Understand the role in relation to the Care Programme Approach.
- Registered Learning Disability Nurse
- Computer & IT Literate
- Evidence of post registration training relevant to the service area
- Knowledge of Transforming Care Agenda
- Understanding of the MHA, MCA Equality Act, DoLS and Safeguarding
- Knowledge of Physical Health needs
- Understanding of evidence based practice within and MDT
- Effective Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to advocate for service users
- Ability to take initiative and work alone
- Has knowledge of relational boundaries and how they impact on the working environment
- Experience of managing shifts on and inpatient ward
- Experience of the line management of unqualified staff
