Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Guild prime Specialist Contracts Ltd
Location:
Billericay, Essex
Base pay range: £30,000.00‑£40,000.00 (actual pay based on skills and experience – discuss with recruiter).
Role OverviewAs an Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will support the commercial and operational delivery of Guild prime refurbishment projects, working closely with the Contracts Manager to prepare and deliver comprehensive contractual information, maintain accurate records, and assist in project delivery from pre‑construction to final account.
Key Responsibilities- Commercially support the project and associated trades.
- Attend, conduct, and manage client‑facing meetings.
- Understand project scope, specifications, and detailed drawings.
- Procure materials, suppliers, and key site trades.
- Prepare accurate cost reporting for the company and clients.
- Produce and input costs into SAGE reports.
- Monitor commercial performance of trades and ensure scope compliance.
- Track material and labour expenditure.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress.
- Manage valuations, applications for payment, variations, additional works, and savings.
- Collaborate with clients, project teams, suppliers, and manufacturers.
- Maintain factual and accurate records.
- Prepare and maintain site files including drawing registers, drawing packs, specifications, programmes, RAMS, H&S, reports, plant schedules, diaries, instructions, RFIs, and CVIs.
- Maintain electronic and hard‑copy project files.
- Update drawing racks, registers, and manage superseded drawings.
- Ensure subcontractor RAMS are provided and issued to site.
- Manage permits, notifications, and licensing.
- Review monthly plant schedules and report to Contracts Manager.
- Compile O&M manuals for project handover.
- Archive project documentation upon completion.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction processes.
- Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
- Competent IT skills, including SAGE and Microsoft Office.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Good timekeeping, reliability, and team‑focused approach.
- Professional and presentable work manner.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Logical, factual, and methodical working style.
