The Manager of the Injection Molding Department

The Manager of the injection molding department has responsibility for daily operations within the mold shop including meeting production schedules, maintaining equipment within the department, establishing molding process parameters, and resolving molding issues. The Manager shall lead a team of mold technicians and operators, making sure they are capable, trained, and abide by safety best practices and company rules.

What you’ll do
  • Establish and optimize injection molding process parameters on new and existing molds using scientific molding principles.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage daily operations in the Mold Shop to meet production needs and output targets.
  • Lead, coach, and develop mold technicians, operators, and co-ops within the department. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee maintenance, repair, and revision change to molds within the Nova Mold Shop. Provide technical support to R&D as needed for mold development.
  • Execute mold validations and equipment qualifications.
  • Review externally sourced plastic part designs for internal molding opportunities.
  • As required, develop and revise departmental procedures related to molding operations, quality control, safety, and best practices for the Mold Shop. Create and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of injection molding machines and ancillary equipment for the Mold Shop.
  • Technical point of contact for external resin and molding equipment suppliers.
  • Execute continuous improvement projects focusing on quality, cost reductions, and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Confidence and hands-on experience establishing injection molding parameters using Scientific Molding principles (Decoupled molding) is required.
