We have developed an advanced and unique heart failure therapy technology in the BrioVAD Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS). We are introducing the BrioVAD LVAS to Heart Failure clinicians for use with the large number of indicated and untreated patients who could benefit from chronic mechanical circulatory support.
The initiation of our INNOVATE Trial in the US is only the beginning. We are building a team to develop advanced technology intended to further improve patient outcomes, increase therapy acceptance, and enabling chronic MCS therapy to be accessible to more patients across the globe.
Job Summary
Brio Health Solutions is seeking a Field Clinical Engineer to support the development, deployment, and clinical success of our BrioVAD system. In this role, you will serve as a technical and clinical liaison across R&D, physicians, and commercial teams—supporting all phases of the product lifecycle from pre-clinical studies to clinical trials and commercialization. T his is a hands-on role that requires comfort working in both engineering environments and clinical settings, including the OR and ICU.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with a deep understanding of heart failure, cardiac surgery, and patient care workflows.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-depth technical support for MCS systems—including hardware, software, and subsystems—across headquarters, customer locations, and in the field.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues both remotely and on-site.
- Perform product maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and modifications as necessary.
- Support pre-clinical and clinical studies, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and study protocols.
- Collaborate with R&D to interpret and document device performance in the context of patient physiology (e.g., flow waveforms, pump speeds, log file analysis).
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Brio Health’s heart failure technologies throughout clinical and commercial deployment.
- Incorporate clinical insights and user feedback into product development to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide occasional 24/7 technical support coverage as part of a rotating schedule.
- Travel up to 50% may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or a related field plus 5 or more years of experience (or an advanced degree (master’s plus 3 years of experience) is strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience in biomedical engineering and/or clinical science, with a focus on class 3 medical devices. Areas of expertise may include active implantable life sustaining medical devices, surgical tools, OR experience, and direct patient experience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret engineering and clinical data accurately.
Nice to Have
- Strong understanding of implantable devices (Mechanical Circulatory Support Devices Preferred), medical imaging, cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, and heart failure.
- Experience in a regulated industry (and especially knowledge of the FDA Quality System Regulation) is a plus. Familiarity with issues surrounding the design and production of medical electronics, as well as cardiovascular physiology, pathophysiology, and the biologic interface of a mechanical device is strongly preferred.
