Your Role at CabotUnder supervision of scientists/engineers, the intern will perform laboratory experiments to evaluate product performance and material compatibility in customer relevant systems. The candidate will be responsible for generating ink and coating formulations as directed and perform material characterization through physical property measurements, LF‑NMR, and other techniques. The candidate will also be responsible for computing Hansen Solubility Parameter values for Cabot products based on the laboratory experiments.
In this position, the intern will provide essential experimental support and carry out product characterization analyses for major projects within the Inkjet Product Performance and Applications group. This internship offers a valuable opportunity for qualified undergraduate or graduate students to gain hands‑on industrial experience and contribute meaningfully in a short period. Given the technical demands of the role, a strong background in materials science or chemistry, particularly with laboratory experience, is preferred.
HowYou Will Make an Impact
- Assist in the planning and execution of laboratory experiments designed to evaluate the material compatibility of Cabot products. Work collaboratively with scientists and engineers to ensure experiments are conducted effectively and according to established protocols.
- Contribute to the characterization of materials by utilizing a variety of analytical techniques. This includes preparing samples, operating laboratory instruments, and ensuring accurate and reliable measurement of material properties.
- Accurately enter experimental data into an electronic laboratory notebook, maintaining clear and organized records. Provide initial interpretation of results to help guide ongoing research and development efforts.
- Analyze experimental data to identify trends and draw conclusions relevant to product performance. Prepare and contribute to laboratory reports that summarize findings.
- Must be enrolled in undergraduate and/or graduate program.
- University level laboratory experience.
- Experience writing formal laboratory reports.
- Eagerness to learn new things.
- Commitment to safety, basic chemical safety training experience preferred.
- Materials Science/Engineering, plastics, or chemical coursework.
- 12‑week minimum commitment preferred.
