Overview
Phlebotomist - PRN Weekends at Odessa Regional Medical Center. Every Other Weekend (7a-7p). Variable Shifts Available Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities- Draws and collects blood samples from patients of all ages, verifies records, and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Relies on SOP instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
- Works under Phlebotomy Lead/immediate supervision and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification by a nationally recognized body (ASCP preferred).
- Knowledge of commonly used collecting devices, anatomy concepts, best practice collections, and disinfection procedures.
- Ability to work independently after competency is established.
- Knowledge of maintaining Worklist, timely receipt of specimens into the lab system, patient identification, tube accuracy, and order of draw.
- Follows instructions, is self-sufficient once deemed competent, can train new staff, and cooperates with nursing staff.
Odessa Regional Medical Center was founded in 1975 as Odessa Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Through the years, the hospital grew and evolved into a full-service healthcare facility and the name was changed to Odessa Regional Medical Center to reflect its larger campus and more comprehensive services. The hospital has 225 beds, approximately 250 physicians on staff, and over 700 employees.
