Phlebotomist - PRN Weekends

Overview

Phlebotomist - PRN Weekends at Odessa Regional Medical Center. Every Other Weekend (7a-7p). Variable Shifts Available Monday - Friday.

• Draws and collects blood samples from patients of all ages, verifies records, and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Relies on SOP instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
• Works under Phlebotomy Lead/immediate supervision and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification by a nationally recognized body (ASCP preferred).
• Knowledge of commonly used collecting devices, anatomy concepts, best practice collections, and disinfection procedures.
• Ability to work independently after competency is established.
• Knowledge of maintaining Worklist, timely receipt of specimens into the lab system, patient identification, tube accuracy, and order of draw.
• Follows instructions, is self-sufficient once deemed competent, can train new staff, and cooperates with nursing staff.

Odessa Regional Medical Center was founded in 1975 as Odessa Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
