Position Title: Summer Camp Assistant (Student Position)
Location: Big Rapids, MI Department: Housing Advertised Salary: $13.73 Per Hour, Room and Meal Plan (when available)
The Summer Camp Assistant (SCaA) is a live-in, paraprofessional staff member within the Office of Housing and Residence Life. SCaAs work in the residence halls throughout the summer to support the operation of summer camps, assisting with daily housing functions and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all guests.
Position Requirements- Must be enrolled as a full‑time student for the upcoming fall semester at Ferris State University.
- Applicants must have prior student staff experience or be hired to begin a student staff role in the upcoming fall semester.
- Applicants may not be enrolled in internships, clinicals, practicums, student teaching, the police academy, or have other academic commitments that require significant time off campus during the summer.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to role model and promote the University’s mission and vision.
- This is a three‑month position running from May through August.
- Assist with the daily operations of residence halls hosting summer camps.
- Check camps in and out of residence halls.
- Participate in a rotating duty schedule.
- Help ensure the safety and security of assigned building(s).
- Complete desk shifts as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to frequent changes associated with summer housing operations.
