As a Manual Machinist, you’ll contribute to manufacturing high-precision parts used in critical applications—making a tangible impact on some of the most advanced projects. Collaborate with a skilled team, operate specialized machinery, and help produce the vital components that fuel aerospace innovation.
What You’ll Do:- Operate mechanical equipment such as vertical mills, horizontal lathes, manual surface grinders, and band saws to fabricate and repair metal parts.
- Assemble parts into sub-units or full assemblies using blueprints and design sketches, ensuring proper dimensions and tolerances.
- Measure materials and select appropriate machinery, tooling, and processes based on engineering specifications.
- Set up and align fixtures, cutting tools, and attachments securely on machines.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and work orders to determine tooling and machining parameters.
- Inspect in-process and finished parts to ensure they meet strict technical and quality requirements using precision instruments.
- Maintain clean, safe, and efficient work environment while performing routine equipment maintenance.
- Participate in Lean and continuous improvement activities to enhance manufacturing processes.
- Handle hazardous waste procedures when necessary and follow all safety protocols.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification preferred.
- 0-2 years of relevant machining or manufacturing experience.
- Basic understanding of ASME Y14.5 and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and perform mathematical calculations related to machining.
- Experience with manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
