Overview
As a growing manufacturer of precision steel components, we are seeking a MIG Welder to join their team in Biddeford, Maine. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday day-shift role ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on fabrication work, values quality craftsmanship, and wants to be part of a close-knit, safety-first environment.
Responsibilities- Weld and fabricate tubular steel components to precise customer specifications
- Interpret work orders, mechanical drawings, and Bills of Materials
- Measure and inspect parts throughout the process to ensure quality and consistency
- Set up welding equipment and ensure all safety precautions are in place before starting work
- Perform preventive maintenance and daily safety checks on tools and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
- Recommend process or workflow improvements to boost efficiency and output
- Follow quality control protocols, including in-process inspection of dimensions, materials, and finish
- Complete additional tasks as needed to support production and team goals
- High school diploma or trade school certificate, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in MIG welding and fabrication techniques
- Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings and detailed job instructions
- Familiarity with Job Travelers, cut lists, and basic shop math (fractions/decimals)
- Skilled with measurement tools including tape measures, calipers, and gauges
- Physically able to stand, lift, bend, and work in a manufacturing environment for a full shift
- Willingness and ability to use PPE including safety glasses, welding gear, and hearing protection
- Able to become certified in MIG welding, overhead crane operation, and pallet jack use
- Previous experience in a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of metallurgy, heat expansion, and weld distortion
- Familiarity with OSHA safety protocols and lean manufacturing practices
