Responsibilities
* Provide information about disability services to current and prospective students, parents, and high school counselors.
* Adjudicate documentation of disabilities with respect to data provided to determine eligibility for services and accommodations sought by students.
* Communicate orally and in writing with students registered with the Student Access Center concerning a broad range of issues relative to their needs and the University's ability to serve those needs.
* Work with faculty, staff, and other University personnel in appropriately accommodating students with disabilities.
* Provide accommodations (test proctoring) or oversee the delivery of necessary accommodations to students registered with Student Access Center.
* Assist students and university employees in understanding their legal responsibilities and rights.
* Provide individual assistance to students, as necessary.
* Assist with orientation, advising, and other general office functions.
* Develop and implement student/faculty/staff in service training programs regarding disability issues.
* Refer students to on- and off-campus resources.
* Maintain recordkeeping systems to assure appropriate resources are available, to assure documentation as necessary, and to assure accountability.
* Commit to actively fostering a culture of welcoming and belonging.
* Supervise and evaluate work performance of work-study students.
* Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Disability Management, Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, or other relevant area desired with three to five years related experience preferred.
* Working knowledge of the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1974, and experience in working to facilitate accommodation of students with disabilities required.
* Post secondary educational administration experience desired.
* Excellent problem-solving skills to resolve academic accommodation and/or disability management skills;
* Demonstrated administrative and coordinative skills.
* Cross-cultural or multi-cultural education and/or experience.
* Proven ability to exercise strong organizational skills in fast paced environment.
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of students, faculty, staff, and various individuals, agencies and organizations outside the University system in carrying out the functions of the job.
* Motivated and solution focused approach toward addressing complex challenges.
