Maine Health Behavioral Health (MHBH) is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) psychiatrist to join our outpatient team with a unique opportunity to work across multiple levels of care in Biddeford and Springvale, Maine.
Position highlights include a flexible, hybrid role spanning Comprehensive Addiction Psychiatry Service (CAPS), Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and outpatient care at two clinics.
Responsibilities- 3 days per week dedicated to CAPS and PHP at the Biddeford Main Street site: 2 days per week in a combination role providing psychiatric care for the PHP and coverage for the CAPS Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP); 1 day per week solely in the CAPS program performing IOP intakes, patient follow-up, and outpatient care for a small CAPS caseload.

CAPS provides specialized care for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions, including intensive outpatient programming, medication-assisted treatment, and integrated behavioral health approaches within a multidisciplinary team. The CAPS Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is an in-person program that functions as a step-down level of care for individuals transitioning from the PHP program, supporting recovery and continuity of care toward outpatient treatment.
Aboutthe Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Located at the Biddeford Main Street site, PHP bridges inpatient and outpatient care, offering an option for more intensive treatment than traditional outpatient visits. The program includes two tracks: mental health stabilization and substance use disorders (SUD) with co-occurring conditions; structured, group-based therapy focused on emotional regulation, cognitive restructuring, and wellness; individualized treatment planning with specific tracks and lengths of stay;
and a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses. The focus is on reducing psychiatric symptoms and preventing inpatient hospitalization.
Our ambulatory clinics at Biddeford (Springbrook Drive) and Springvale are part of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, providing timely, coordinated behavioral health services. Services include outpatient psychiatry and medication management, individual and family therapy, specialized treatment for SUD and co-occurring conditions, case management and care coordination, ACT team services, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches, and telehealth/hybrid care options.
