Mcphee Staffing Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team in Bicester, United Kingdom. This is a full-time, permanent position with the opportunity for growth and advancement within our company.

As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Head Chef to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen. You will be responsible for managing and supervising the kitchen staff, creating and implementing new menu items, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Chef in managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen
  • Train, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency
  • Create and implement new menu items, taking into consideration food costs, customer preferences, and seasonal availability
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented according to company standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders for ingredients and supplies as needed
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and maintain relationships with local suppliers
  • Assist with menu planning and cost analysis to ensure profitability
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and innovations, and make recommendations for improvement to the Head Chef
  • Assist with scheduling and managing kitchen staff to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts
  • Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant or catering environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred
