Job Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Support Worker to join the team at HMP Bullingdon – a Category B male remand and resettlement prison near Bicester. This role offers a varied environment across primary care, mental health, and substance misuse, including emergency response, clinics, health promotion, and more.
Hours: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, shifts Monday–Sunday, including weekends and nights. Shift patterns: 07:30–17:30, 07:30–19:30, 19:30–07:30.
Salary: £27,543 – £31,789 per annum (dependent on experience) plus a 'Golden Hello' joining bonus: £500 at 6 months, £1,000 at 12 months, £1,000 at 24 months.
Main responsibilities- Work across primary care, including clinics, health promotion, bloods, observations, wound care, etc.
- Carry out induction duties for new patients, including observations, urine sampling, and other assessments.
- Provide care within Early Days in Custody, substance misuse, and inpatient settings.
- Participate in bloods and vaccination clinics.
- Respond to emergency situations as required.
- Ensure continuity of care and deliver outstanding care at all times.
- Contribute to and implement care packages, supporting health promotion, wellbeing and clinic services.

- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in healthcare (preferred).
- Experience in a care setting, ideally hospital or prison; A&E experience a plus.
- Experience in a prison/secure setting or hospital – a bonus.
