Plant Maintenance Engineer

. We are looking for a Plant Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Slade Green Traincare Depot. You will be responsible for undertaking planned preventative and reactive maintenance in line with legislative, ACOPS, OEM, railway standards and specifications.
- Carry out planned facilities maintenance in accordance with the maintenance programme and as directed by the depot facilities manager.
- Carry out corrective and reactive repairs to plant, equipment and infrastructure.
- Utilise and interrogate IT software and electronic test equipment to determine asset compliant performance.
- Complete repairs from work arising (mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building fabric).
- Comply with depot rules, safe systems and procedures.
- Follow, interrogate and reference services/utilities schematics and drawings.
- Operate and construct powered plant to enable safe access to depot assets (including cranes, forklifts, tower scaffolds and Genie booms).
- Assist the operation/maintenance of depot critical plant including wheel lathe, bogie drop, cranes, crabs and shunt vehicles.
- Operate and update depot equipment asset inventory, identify and specify replacement and spare components.
- Record output of activities through approved electronic medium, operate database and contribute to programme, maintenance of risks.
- Complete paperwork and provide feedback and recommendations to depot facilities managers.
- Assist Depot facilities Managers by undertaking monitoring exercises, asset performance checks, seasonal preparations, supporting depot challenges and other projects as required.
- Come to a clear understanding of what outcomes are required.
- Plan and organise activities, liaising with other departments and arranging access as required.
- Complete work required, maintain accurate records and deliver feedback to line management and depot stakeholders.
- Completed an engineering apprenticeship or equivalent (mechanical/electrical).
- Core mechanical skills to confirm compliance with specification or operating parameters.
- Ability to complete written reports and feedback with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
All successful candidates will need to undertake and pass a full safety‑critical medical before formal offer.
All successful applicants must pass a Personal Track Safety course or a Depot Track Safety course (full training provided).
Additional Requirements- Drivers licence:
Full clean. - Pass satisfactory references, right‑to‑work verification, basic criminal record check and pre‑employment medical assessment.

- Given the start and end times of shifts, it is best to have your own transport to get to and from your place of work.
