Program Summary
New Entry Sustainable Farming Project’s (New Entry) mission is to train and support new farmers, encourage resilient farming practices, facilitate access to local food and farm products, and build strong support networks for diverse agricultural communities. New Entry envisions diverse and thriving farming communities where people are connected, farms are profitable and resilient, nutritious food is available to all, and land is stewarded for future generations.
We strive to achieve excellence through having a diverse and inclusive workplace that honors the unique talents, perspectives, and lived experiences of each person on our team.
You will support the development and delivery of the Spanish‑First Crop Production Course by helping create and translate video lectures, reading materials, and assessments for both live and asynchronous formats, and coordinating logistics for simultaneous interpretation during sessions with guest speakers and USDA staff.
Additionally, you will assist Latinx producers with limited technical literacy through individualized digital navigation support (in person, Whats App, and other platforms) to ensure access to online courses and resources. You may also contribute to translating and adapting Agricultural Justice Project (AJP) standards into Spanish and preparing plain‑language educational materials on equitable farm labor and buyer relationships.
The intern will also participate in outreach to Spanish‑speaking farmers, upload resources to the website and online library, and support evaluation activities—including interviews, surveys, and data entry in Salesforce—to help improve course content, delivery, and overall program impact. The position is expected to do fieldwork with the Food Hub and/or Farm at Moraine Farm throughout the summer for around half day to one day per week.
DesiredQualifications
- Strong Spanish language proficiency (spoken and written) and ability to communicate effectively with Latinx producers.
- Experience in adult learning, community engagement, outreach, or related fields.
- Comfort with digital tools used for online education (Zoom, Whats App, cloud platforms).
- Basic ability to edit or create multimedia educational materials.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and cultural humility.
- Ability to support evaluation tasks, including interviews, surveys, and data entry.
- Preferred but not required: familiarity with sustainable agriculture, beginning farmer resources, USDA programs, or translation/localization.
- Access to reliable transportation for the purpose of on-site work. Mileage reimbursement will be made available for site visits outside of Moraine Farm.
- The position will be hybrid; 2-3 days (TBD with supervisor) in the New Entry office at Moraine Farm in Beverly, MA, and at least 2 days remote.
- The position is 35 hours per week, beginning Tuesday, May 26th through Friday, August 14th (12 weeks).
- Compensation is in the form of a stipend, $7200 total for undergraduates and $8000 total for graduates, and these are paid on a monthly basis (in 3 installments) in June, July and August
