Controller, Finance & Banking, CFO

Schedule: 5 days in office (flexibility for 1 hybrid day)

We are a growing real estate investment and operating firm with a strong portfolio of industrial NNN and commercial properties seeking an experienced Real Estate Controller to lead the accounting function. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing property and corporate accounting, managing a small team, and helping build financial infrastructure as the company scales.

This position offers a clear path to CFO as the firm continues to grow. You will work closely with ownership and executive leadership on financial strategy, reporting, and operational improvements.

Leadership & Oversight

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 3–4 accounting professionals
• Oversee all property and corporate accounting functions
• Establish scalable processes, internal controls, and accounting policies
• Partner with asset management and property management teams

Property & Fund Accounting

• Full oversight of accounting for industrial NNN and commercial assets
• Review monthly property financials, CAM reconciliations, and lease abstracts
• Monitor rent rolls, recoveries, and expense allocations
• Ensure accurate accruals, revenue recognition, and property-level reporting
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Consolidate multi-entity financials
• Lead budget preparation and variance analysis
• Support investor and lender reporting requirements

Systems & Process Management

• Serve as the Yardi subject matter expert (required)
• Optimize system workflows, reporting, and controls within Yardi
• Implement process improvements and automation where possible

Compliance & Audit

• Oversee year-end audit and tax preparation process
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and real estate accounting standards
• Maintain strong internal controls and documentation

Strategic Growth

• Support acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions
• Assist with underwriting analysis and due diligence
• Play a key role in building the finance function toward a future CFO structure

Qualifications

Required

• 7+ years of accounting experience, with strong real estate industry focus
• Direct experience with industrial NNN and commercial property accounting
• Advanced Yardi experience (non-negotiable)
• Experience managing and developing accounting staff
• Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate financial reporting
