Join Our Team as a Family Help Team Manager (Social Work Qualified) in the East Locality

Are you a passionate and experienced social work professional ready to lead and inspire a dynamic team? East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a Family Help Team Manager (Social Work Qualified) to play a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality early help services that make a real difference in the lives of children, young people, and families.

About the Role

As a Family Help Team Manager, you will lead a team of Family Help Practitioners and Senior Practitioners, oversee complex case management and ensure the delivery of effective, strengths‑based early help interventions. You will be responsible for managing risk, safeguarding children, and driving performance to achieve positive outcomes for families.

Shaping the Future of Family Help

This role comes at a pivotal time as national reforms in children’s social care, including the Stable Homes, Built on Love strategy, are reshaping how services are delivered across the country. East Riding is committed to aligning its Family Help model with these reforms – placing relationships, early intervention, and family‑led solutions at the heart of our approach. As Team Manager, your leadership and expertise will be instrumental in embedding these principles into practice, ensuring our services are responsive, inclusive, and future‑ready.

This is a key leadership role requiring strong decision‑making, excellent partnership working, and a commitment to continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide reflective supervision and professional guidance to your team.
  • Oversee complex cases and ensure effective application of thresholds.
  • Champion high‑quality assessments and person‑centred planning.
  • Lead on safeguarding, performance management, and service development.
  • Collaborate with multi‑agency partners to deliver integrated support.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and represent the service in key forums.
  • Deputise for the Area Manager when required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Social Work degree and experience within the relevant area.
  • Substantial experience managing complex caseloads and leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of legislation, safeguarding, and early help frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • A flexible, resilient, and values‑driven professional.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.

Why Join Us

  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • A supportive, inclusive, and forward‑thinking work environment.
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across East Riding.
