Overview

Under the supervision of the Community Habilitation Supervisors, the Respite Care Provider will offer temporary relief to primary caregivers by providing short-term care to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role is essential in helping families and caregivers recharge while ensuring their loved ones are safe, engaged, and well cared for. The Respite Care Provider will be compassionate and dependable while providing care to the supported individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Provides supervision, companionship, and personal care assistance to clients during the absence of their primary caregiver.
  • Assists with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and meal preparation.
  • Engages clients in meaningful and age-appropriate activities that support emotional and cognitive well-being.
  • Ensures the safety and comfort of the client at all times.
  • Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed/processed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience:

    Prior experience in caregiving and/or respite care preferred
  • Specialized Training, Licenses,

    Certifications:

    CPR and First Aid (training will be provided upon hire as needed)
  • Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
    Ability to lift and assist clients as needed;
    Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
  • Other Requirements:
    Must be 18 years of age;
    Valid driver’s license preferred.
Work Environment

This role is performed in-person.

Physical Requirements
  • Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time (at least 8 hours).
  • Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets.
  • Employee is required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Employee is required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or stand on a stool as needed.
  • Employee is required to be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
