Buyer, Wine Category Management

Overview

Total Wine & More is seeking a Buyer, Wine Category Management, to join our Wine Buying team and work at our corporate office in Bethesda, Maryland. In this role, you will lead strategy development and execution for varying wine categories, driving performance through data-driven decisions and cross-functional collaboration. You will shape the customer experience by analyzing trends and providing recommendations, deliver a compelling assortment, pricing, create promotional plans, and help manage inventory to deliver plans.

You will also help to manage a few key supplier relationships. You will report to the Director, Wine Category Management.

• Develop and execute category strategies that drive sales, margin, and market share
• Analyze category performance and consumer trends, identifying actionable insights and business opportunities
• Provide recommendations for increasing sales and margin using promotional and pricing levers
• Work cross-functionally, with both internal and external business partners, to successfully deliver financial goals and drive the execution of product introduction in our stores
• Drive execution of sales and profitability, with pre-defined strategies, including a focus on in-stock management
• Key supplier management, inventory tracking, weekly category & supplier analysis
• Leverage interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the business
• Support team with additional projects and strategies as needed, including process improvement and company initiatives
• Must be able to prioritize many assignments simultaneously, and work under tight deadlines
• Travel Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, Statistics or related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
• 3-6 years experience with retail product buying, category management or business management
• Experience with relationship management, business ownership, and strategic planning
• Experience analyzing data and financials using advanced Excel functions (can maintain complex spreadsheets); wine knowledge or interest a plus
• Computer skills:
