Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking an experienced Food and Beverage Manager to join our dining team. This individual will play an integral role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our members and their guests while supporting daily operations across multiple outlets.

The ideal candidate embodies a genuine passion for hospitality, strong leadership presence, and a commitment to excellence in both service and teamwork. Working in close partnership with the culinary and restaurant teams, this leader ensures seamless coordination, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the Club's distinguished standards.

The Food and Beverage Manager serves as a hands‑on leader actively present on the floor, mentoring team members, overseeing service execution, and supporting member events. This individual leads with professionalism, grace, and genuine care, fostering an environment where every interaction feels warm, seamless, and intentional.

Through thoughtful coaching, collaboration, and attention to detail, the Food and Beverage Manager upholds the Club's traditions while continuously enhancing the member experience and driving the continued growth of our dining program.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead by example with an active, visible presence on the floor-building authentic relationships with members, guests, and team members.
  • Partner with leadership to recruit, select, and develop front-of-house talent through the Club's established selection process.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentorship emphasizing service excellence, product knowledge, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative culture that encourages growth, accountability, and pride in belonging.
  • Collaborate closely with the culinary team to ensure seamless communication and unified service execution.
  • Create and manage staffing schedules aligned with business levels and member activities to ensure exceptional service coverage.
Operational & Financial Excellence
  • Oversee the smooth and efficient operation of assigned outlets with attention to detail, consistency, and quality.
  • Manage inventory, cost control, and product standards to achieve optimal financial performance.
  • Partner with the Director of Restaurants to develop, monitor, and achieve annual budgets and operating goals.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Club policies, menus, and events to ensure accurate communication with members and the team.
  • Regularly evaluate systems, procedures, and service standards to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Member & Guest Experience
  • Embody and model genuine hospitality, ensuring every member and guest feels welcomed and valued.
  • Anticipate member preferences, recognize returning guests, and nurture connections that strengthen a sense of belonging.
  • Address member concerns and feedback promptly, graciously, and with a solutions‑focused approach.
  • Support daily operations by greeting members, taking orders, assisting with wine service, and ensuring flawless presentation standards.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of refined comfort and understated elegance consistent with the Club's distinguished reputation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in food and beverage operations, ideally within a private club, luxury resort, or fine dining environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of wine, spirits, cocktails, and current beverage trends.
  • Proven success in financial management, including cost control, budgeting, and operational performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate high‑performing service teams.
Skills & Abilities
  • Warm, approachable leadership style rooted in integrity, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect authentically with members and colleagues.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and adept at balancing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and POS systems.
