Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Cancer Institute, located in Bethesda, MD. The Postdoctoral Researcher will conduct advanced research in cancer biology and related fields, perform data analysis, and collaborate with other researchers to investigate significant scientific questions. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, and participating in seminars, conferences, or workshops to share progress and gain insights.
Mentorship opportunities may also be available, such as guiding junior researchers or students.
- Proficiency in laboratory skills and experience in conducting experiments
- Strong research abilities with a focus on scientific inquiry and problem-solving
- Knowledge of physics and familiarity with its application in cancer research
- Data analysis skills, including statistical techniques and software tools
- Experience in teaching or mentoring students and junior researchers is a plus
- Ph.D. in a related field such as biology, physics, or a relevant subject
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in cancer research or biomedical sciences is highly desired but not required
The Center for Cancer Research (CCR) is home to nearly 250 basic and clinical research groups located on two campuses just outside of Washington, D.C. CCR is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and makes up the largest component of the research effort scientists collaborate with academic and commercial partners and advocacy groups across the world in efforts to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and HIV/AIDS.
The CCR research portfolio covers the full spectrum of biological and biomedical research. Our work ranges from basic to translational and clinical, and our clinical trials are conducted in the NIH Clinical Center, the world’s largest hospital dedicated to clinical research that offers a robust infrastructure to support CCR’s patients on an estimated 250 open studies.
