Position: Nurse (Clinical/Ambulatory) with Security Clearance
Duties Help
* Provide professional nursing care to patients with various comorbidities to include acute and chronic renal failure, performing hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, infusion therapy, and therapeutic plasma exchange.
* Operate and monitor highly complex medical equipment, including dialysis machines, hemodynamic monitoring devices, and infusion pumps.
* Assess patient needs with a multidisciplinary focus, coordinating care and documenting progress.
* Develop and implement educational programs for patients, families, and staff on renal therapies and infusions.
* Teach patients and their families to recognize and respond to common medical and technical complications.
* Administer blood transfusions, intravenous fluids, and specialized medications, carefully documenting patient responses.
* Initiate life-saving measures and implement emergency protocols, including resuscitation.
* Maintain and disinfect hemodialysis and reverse osmosis machines to AAMI water quality standards.
* Maintain accurate patient records and develop comprehensive nursing care plans. Requirements Help Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
* This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
* This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
* This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
* This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
* This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
* Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
* Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
* This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
* This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 10% of the time to various locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
* This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
