We are an upscale, dine-in ice cream shop featuring an inventive menu of artisanal ice cream creations, including traditional scoops, extreme milkshakes, boozy shakes, unforgettable sundaes, reinvented floats, and our custom frozen hot chocolate blend.

  Max's Best Ice Cream is a family operated business. As lifelong residents of Maryland and the local community, we opened in Bethesda first to fulfill a lifelong father-son dream to serve “the best ice cream... in the whole entire world.”

  Our premium, farm-fresh ice cream is sourced from Vanderwende's Farm Creamery in rural Delaware. Max's Best Ice Cream is the first shop to feature Vanderwende's ice cream in Bethesda and the broader Washington, D.C. region.

Reports To: Managing Partners, Pastry Chef

FLSA:

Position Summary: Front-end management directing and overseeing business activities at Max's Best Ice Cream with standardized policies in order to provide efficient, friendly services and profitable operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Leads the team by example providing excellent standards of customer service while participating in ongoing refinement of steps of service.
• Hires and maintains associate staff according to seasonal needs by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
• Schedules and assigns stations for employees, provides oversight for shift swaps, communicating with ownership regarding time off and gaps in coverage.
• Provides ongoing coaching for the associates to help maintain quality of product in a clean environment served in an expedient manner.
• Scoops ice cream and prepares menu items as necessary in accordance with company standards.
• Oversees accountability and discipline for associates in accordance with company policy, and when necessary, terminates employees.
