Lead AV Support Technician

OverviewThe Lead AV Support Technician provides onsite audiovisual support for meetings and events for our federal customer, ensuring seamless operation of presentation displays, in-room voice lift systems, integrated video conferencing, and collaboration technologies. The technician serves as a subject matter expert for AV systems and works closely with event coordinators to deliver professional, courteous, and reliable support.
This role is on‑site in Bethesda, MD. The ability to obtain and retain a public trust clearance is required for consideration.
Key Responsibilities- Provide onsite assistance for all meetings requiring AV support, including presentation displays, voice lift, incoming audio, and integrated video conferencing.
- Perform pre‑meeting checks on Conference Center room technology to ensure proper functionality.
- Stay current on video conferencing and collaboration equipment used by our federal customer.
- Develop and implement solutions for common AV technology issues.
- Diagnose and resolve video conferencing equipment issues or elevate to AV Engineering as needed.
- Conduct daily checks on centrally managed meeting rooms, ensuring collaboration devices are network‑connected and operational, microphones, cameras, speakers, and displays function properly, and control panels at tables, walls, and hallways are operational.
- Report any issues immediately and submit service tickets when necessary.
- Work closely with the customer’s event coordinators to design AV solutions tailored to client needs.
- Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for service desk and field support technicians.
- Create, upload, and manage content for digital signage in the event areas in collaboration with federal staff and contractors.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience providing AV project/event support.
- Demonstrated experience managing AV support teams.
- Proven experience in AV support and video conferencing technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Familiarity with collaboration platforms and digital signage systems (e.g., Scala).
- Experience with enterprise‑level AV systems and integrated conferencing platforms (e.g., Cisco, Poly, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Experience supporting hybrid and remote meetings, including AV solutions for team rooms, huddle spaces, and conference centers.
- Experience supporting digital signage platforms, especially Scala, including content creation and management.
- Knowledge of network connectivity and basic IT troubleshooting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with digital signage content creation tools and workflows.
- Certification in AV technologies (e.g., CTS, AVIXA) is a plus.
- Salary Range: $80,000 – $110,000 annually (commensurate with experience and certifications)
