The Network Support team receives trouble tickets and service requests from across the organization. They support Sibley Hospital, Suburban Hospital, all Maryland/DC/VA off campus locations, JHCP clinical locations, as well as home users, and affiliate offices. This includes over 80 off campus locations from Fells Point to Springfield, VA.

Problem calls are wide ranging in scope and difficulty. The group handles connectivity issues for clinical care components such as scanners, portable computers, clinical workstations, radiology devices, tablets, pagers, security cameras, etc. They also handle less critical networked devices such as office computers, copiers, printers, cash registers, and parking gates.

Service request work also covers this geographic region, and diversity of connectivity. Simple connection requests, to major clinical construction projects, with several hundred devices are common. Technical staff are required to have knowledge of a wide range of devices, and connectivity methods, as well as network hardware. With over 500 network closets supported, installations and upgrades are consistently on the work schedule.

The team is required to provide support 24x7 on‑site support for all hospital operations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic network switch and router configurations and installations.
  • Replace printers and phone handsets, resolve data and voice jack issues, patch data cables.
  • Interact with customers to understand their needs.
  • Provide 24x7 on‑site support for hospital operations.
  • Support connectivity for clinical care components and less critical networked devices.
  • Perform network analysis (data/voice), configure network switches (VLANs, ports, uplinks), install network hardware.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot network equipment.
  • Collaborate technically with other teams.
Required Education

High School Diploma/GED. Additional experience may substitute for education. (Equivalency Formula: related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute on a two years experience‑for‑one year education basis.)

Required Experience

Four years of related experience.

Licensure/Certification

Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) preferred.

  • Ability to troubleshoot simple IPv4 routing issues at remote facilities.
  • Strong understanding of VLANs and configuration ability.
  • Crestron systems experience preferred; understanding of web‑based video conferencing solutions (Teams, Zoom, Web Ex).
  • Media/cable selection (Cat5/6, fiber, etc.).
  • Network patching and cable management.
  • Basic device diagnostics and issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of network troubleshooting tools (Fluke testers, cable certifiers, toners, etc.).
  • Experience with ticketing and change‑management systems.
  • Proficiency with hardware replacement tools and standard installation equipment.
  • Customer service and communication skills.
  • Gather requirements and understand customer needs.
  • Coordinate with Facilities, vendors, and technical teams.
  • Participate in technical discussions and project meetings.
  • Documentation and adherence to procedures.
  • Task prioritization and time management.
  • Follow established installation and troubleshooting procedures.
