Position: Clinical Research Coordinator I - BEST (US Citizen)

Overview

HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I to support a clinical research effort evaluating the efficacy of Building Emotional Self-Awareness Teletherapy in improving psychological health among Service Members with traumatic brain injury (TBI). The Clinical Research Coordinator I will be responsible for the execution of the large majority study tasks and activities as well as will be responsible for recruitment and enrollment of military service members, and will help screen and enroll referred participants.

This position supports research at both the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) in Bethesda, Maryland, and the Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune (NMCCL) in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The NICoE is a state-of-the-art facility established to advance national understanding of the visible and invisible wounds associated with TBI and related psychological health conditions. Its capabilities enable the evaluation and treatment of highly complex clinical, psychological, and social challenges, particularly in patients who continue to experience significant functional impairment despite intensive treatment.

As part of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), the NICoE contributes to a military treatment facility known for excellence in TBI and brain health clinical care, research, and education.

The Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune provides primary medical care to Service Members and their families stationed at Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River. The Center offers integrated and mission-aligned medical support for Marines and Sailors, with the capability and capacity to care for higher-acuity patients. This enhances Navy Medicine’s overall readiness mission and strengthens its commitment to serving the Navy and Marine Corps team.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. HJF s support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews new patient records and screens patients for eligibility in participation of research protocol. May interview patients for protocols and collects and analyzes appropriate data for recruitment purposes, determine patient commitment and obtains informed consent. Educates patients about the research protocol, their roles in the protocols, and any other vital information.
  • Develop and distribute approved reports, presentations, literature review or flyers.
  • Collects, organizes, catalogs, disseminates, and maintains appropriate files of current data. Maintains weekly/monthly status reports on all patients.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients and physicians and serves as a resource for the patients.
  • Transcribes and resolves queries of data in case report forms (hardcopy or electronic) and prepares documents, under direction of project heads.
  • Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assures that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices.
  • Schedules patients for appointments and visits. Assists with monitoring audits/visits for protocols.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor s Degree preferred in Social or Life Science
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.
Required Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of federal and local regulations and policies pertinent to research involving human subjects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required, ability to obtain and maintain a T3 Secret Clearance.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • This position will take place primarily in a clinic setting. This position follows a hybrid work schedule. The employee will be required to report on-site in Bethesda, MD two to three days per week.
Compensation
  • The annual salary range for this position is $46,100 - $57,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
