Overview
Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant II to perform data collection by conducting research interviews. Recruits and screens subjects for research studies. Collects baseline and follow up data from subjects. This position will predominantly support a new study involving the diagnosis of PTSD, comparing the Clinician Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5 (CAPS-5) with an artificial intelligence (AI) avatar, for initial diagnosis and post-intervention assessment.
Work will be conducted within the Division of Military Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, under the direction of Dr. Michael J. Roy, MD, MPH. In addition to the primary study, this position will also support recruitment, enrollment and coordination of participants in current active clinical trials of PTSD therapy.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. HJF serves military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike.
Responsibilities- Active recruitment and screening of subjects for research studies, on site at USU, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and other military and civilian sites in the National Capital Area, including staffing tables in public areas, distributing fliers, speaking with physicians, nurses and other medical providers, and presenting at local/regional scientific meetings.
- Collect baseline and follow up data from subjects, verify data validity and accuracy, and ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements and clinical relevance.
- Establish and maintain database files and progress reports for studies, projects and programs; may perform data analysis and interpretation.
- Conduct scientific literature searches, identify and retrieve relevant sources.
- Assist with administrative duties such as developing and submitting grants, papers and abstracts, manuscripts and presentations; develop protocol manuals and data collection instruments; participate in field visits; respond to requests from individuals, institutions, government agencies and funding agencies; contribute to the design of research studies.
- Assist with preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations, including editing and formatting documents; distribute manuscripts and reports to scientific collaborators as required.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including required training for the role.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Science (e.g., Sociology, Psychology) or related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience required.
Skills And Abilities
- Experience with research participants, including recruitment, screening, questionnaire administration, informed consent, scheduling and assessment of eligibility, symptom severity, and response to interventions.
- Trained in the conduct of the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5, with at least one year of experience in its administration.
- Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
- Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.
- Skill in statistical interpretation and data analysis using statistical software and/or spreadsheets and database software applications.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain at Top Secret/TS public trust clearance.
- Lifting:
Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
- The hourly pay range for this position is $20.99 - $24.03. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
