Overview

Clinical Research Coordinator II – Henry M. Jackson Foundation

HJF is seeking a highly motivated college graduate to serve as a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator II on a study of social media use interventions with military-connected adolescents. This position will support Dr. Timothy Regan at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ (USU) Medical and Clinical Psychology (MPS) Department, which is based in Bethesda, MD.

The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Regan and coordinate an online randomized controlled trial of social media use interventions in adolescents. This position requires an individual who is highly responsible and has excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and families. This position is ideal for individuals planning to pursue graduate work in psychology, public health, or medicine.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) provides administrative and management support for this position. HJF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners.

HJF’s support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities
  • Coordination of research efforts, including recruitment, scheduling, and retention of participants throughout the study
  • Closely tracking participant’s progress throughout the trial period, including daily and follow-up contact via email/text/video chat with adolescent participants regarding study procedures
  • Conducting study interviews and administering surveys to adolescents
  • Scoring assessment and interview data
  • Collection and organization of data; data entry and maintaining study databases
  • Assistance with preparation of literature reviews and manuscripts
  • Assisting with the preparation of study protocol documents, and IRB amendments/continuing reviews
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by Dr. Regan. This may include attendance of and participation in required trainings for the role
  • Participant contact with children and families
  • Mentorship from expert collaborators in the fields of psychology, public health, and psychiatry
  • Potential for authorship on scientific publications and presentations
  • Training in research methodologies and psychological assessments for adolescent mental and behavioral health
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of project management; well-organized and highly responsible
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, particularly through online formats such as email, text, and video chat
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, with attention to independent problem-solving when appropriate
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to facilitate communication among supervisors, peers, and supervises
  • Basic familiarity with Institutional Review Board activities and applicable federal and military regulations regarding the use of human subjects in research
  • Ability to set and meet project deadlines
  • Ability to interact with all teammates and research subjects/their parents in a culturally sensitive, accessible, and inclusive manner that demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Interest in working in military mental health research
  • Background in psychology, public health, medicine, or another health-related field preferred
  • Prior research experience is strongly preferred. High technological literacy (smartphones, social media, etc.) is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in randomized controlled trial(s) are a strong plus
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust Clearance
