Research Assistant I – Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute

Join the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine as a Research Assistant I in the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute. This role supports Dr. Vidya Kumar on Countermeasures research at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.

• Performs research projects, including the collection and organization of data. Follows instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Performs data entry accurately, timely, and efficiently. Maintains clear and accurate data collection records and inventories in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
• Maintains supplies in the laboratory and ensures proper cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
• Creates, collects, disseminates, and maintains appropriate study data.
• Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols. Creates and communicates detailed observations on experiments.
• Will perform animal welfare checks for lab animals (mice) and sample analysis.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor, including attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 0–2 years experience required.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques required. Experience with ELISA, Luminex, and Flow Cytometry preferred.
• Willingness to handle lab animals.
• Basic wet lab experience.
• Basic research presentation experience.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Good communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust Investigation.

• Lifting:
  Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.

• Primarily in a laboratory setting.
• Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required.

• Hourly pay range: $19.33–$30.77; actual pay determined by experience, education, etc.
