About

the Role

This is a 3-month contract to hire opportunity.

The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll within the organization. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll administration, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with HR and finance teams to maintain payroll records, resolve discrepancies, and support audits.

By leveraging payroll systems and software, the specialist ensures data integrity and confidentiality while delivering exceptional service to employees regarding payroll inquiries. Ultimately, this role contributes to the organization's financial accuracy and employee satisfaction by maintaining a seamless payroll process.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience processing payroll in a corporate environment.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as Costpoint and ADP.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements in the United States.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Human Resources.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing and state tax regulations.
  • Familiarity with additional payroll software platforms and HRIS systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
  • Process and execute payroll on a regular schedule using payroll software such as Costpoint and ADP.
  • Calculate and remit payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local tax with holdings, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee data, benefits deductions, and garnishments.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies or issues related to payroll processing.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax information in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure accurate employee data and payroll reporting.
  • Prepare and submit required payroll tax filings and reports to government agencies.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll and tax compliance.
