Target Salary Range*: $90,000 - $110,000.

Amatriot is seeking a skilled Hydromechanical Engineer to support mission‑critical naval test systems. This position primarily supports operations in Memphis, TN, with potential support at a secondary site in Bethesda, MD.
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills and is excited to learn the intricacies of a unique, highly complex hydromechanical system. This individual is proactive in applying engineering knowledge to develop practical solutions and is comfortable interacting hands‑on with operational equipment in an industrial test environment.
This role is well‑suited for a mechanically inclined engineer who thrives in applied, real‑world engineering scenarios involving fluid dynamics, mechanical design, and system troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop engineering solutions for complex hydromechanical and fluid power systems
- Apply strong analytical methods to evaluate system performance and identify optimization opportunities
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving hydraulic and mechanical machinery
- Perform system modeling, validation, and performance analysis
- Work hands‑on with equipment to support testing, maintenance, and system improvements
- Utilize CAD software to develop and modify mechanical designs
- Conduct or support finite element analysis (FEA) as needed
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams
- Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and best practices
- Provide clear technical documentation and reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- Can substitute 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Minimum of 3+ years of related hands‑on mechanical engineering experience
- Experience in industrial, heavy manufacturing, waterworks, or similar environments preferred
- Strong background in fluid dynamics and mechanical design
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and practices
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience supporting U.S. Navy or Department of Defense programs
- Experience in naval or laboratory test system environments
- Experience performing root‑cause analysis on complex mechanical systems
- Knowledge of military standards and specifications
